2007-2008 Rules

General Membership Rules

  1. **The Bartow County Bass Club will hold 12 tournaments a year. A yearly membership fee of $50.00 ($35.00 club membership + $15.00 Federation Dues) must be paid by each member upon approval of membership or at the first of each club year (Oct.-Sept.).
  2. A monthly tournament fee of $30.00. If an Angler does not fish a tournament $5.00 is due to the club.
  3. The club will hold one meeting a month on the Monday following our tournament beginning a 7:00 pm located at 448 Crowe Springs Rd. White, GA 30184.  A voluntary 2nd meeting will be held in the middle of the month.
  4. Acceptance of new members can only be done by the following:
    Be recommended by a current member.
    Secret vote of current members approves prospective member for a probationary period.
    A $50.00 membership fee is required after approval plus $30.00 monthly tournament fees.
  5. A prospective member can only be voted on once per meeting.
  6. All members must join FLW Outdoors and maintain membership. Failure to do so will result in disqualification as a member of this club. Member has until the next meeting to join FLW Outdoors.
  7. To remain in good standing a member must keep his dues paid before each tournament.
    If a member gets behind 3 months in his dues he will not be drawn for the next tournament.
  8. To be reinstated a previous member must pay all back dues, submit a new application and be voted on. He must start at 0.0 points for the year.
  9. Each member who does not attend a meeting should ask someone what took place at the meeting. It is the individual member’s responsibility to know what took place at the meeting including whom he is paired with for the next tournament.
  10. Only club members and prospective members should attend the monthly meeting.
  11. Safety, sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation are expected from each member and infraction of these fundamental sporting principals may be deemed cause for disqualification during tournament competition. Repeated and flagrant disregard for the above principals may be deemed cause for termination of membership in the club.
  12. The Board of Directors shall handle interpretation of all rules.

 

General Tournament Information:

  • A yearly tournament schedule will be provided to the club during the September meeting. Launch locations will be voted on and selected by the members. Tournament times will be safelight to 3 pm GA time.
  • Tournaments may be postponed or changed by the board due to bad weather . In all cases if the tournament can be fished safely it will be fished.
  • **Beginning in 2007 we will go to a point system based on a maximum of 150 points with a 5 point spread between places for each tournament. Example: 1st 150 points, 2nd 145 points 3rd 140 points etc. If you fish a tournament and do not weigh in a legal fish you will receive 50 points. Year end points totals will be based on 11 out of 12 tournaments.
  • **The club can fish any lake, any where, only 2 times per year. The club cannot fish the same lake in consecutive months.
  • Tournaments will be held the 1st Sunday in each month except July. The July tournament will be held the 2nd Sunday.
  • **The Bartow County Bass Club will fish year round.
  • **If a monthly tournament conflicts with the Divisional Tournament, or if someone advances to the Top Six, the club will change the tournament date.
  • All one day club tournaments will be held on Sunday, except night tournaments, which will be held on Saturday nights. Club may vote to hold day and a half tournaments. One day on Saturday and a half-day on Sunday with no more than 2 day and a half tournaments per year. All one-day Sunday tournaments will not go past 3:00 pm.
  • You must fish both days of a 2-day tournament.
  • No one can be paired with the same partner but once a year at regular meetings. Tournament Director has the authority to pair anyone as necessary due to cancellations.
  • A fine of $30.00 and 5 points will be levied to any member failing to notify his partner and the Tournament Director by 9:00 pm 3 days prior to the tournament that you cannot fish the scheduled tournament. Both partners must contact the Tournament Director. The Tournament Director will report the fine. The Board will hear the case and collect the fine if found guilty. Once the fine is paid then the club will pay $30.00 to the boater that can go toward his expenses if the non-boater was in violation and the boater ended up fishing by himself.
  • A 5 point fine will be levied if you are late for the start of the tournament and your partner is stranded. If both partners agree, they may start fishing late.
  • If you cannot get in touch with your partner 3 days prior to the tournament you must contact the tournament director by 9:00 pm Thursday.
  • If you are left fishing alone after cancellations you may fish with a guest. The guest will not be in competition for the tournament.
  • In the event of the tournament director’s absence, he will appoint a substitute and helpers.
  • Half the gas cost, $25.00, will be paid by the non-boater for his expenses on tournament day. If partners fish together on other days, they make their own arrangements.
  • The top five in points at the end of the year will advance to the Georgia North Division Championship. The 6th place of the Bartow team will be held in reserve for the highest non-boater in points. This rule is void if there is a non-boater that qualified in the Division Championship in points for the year.
  • **If you fish as a non-boater in yearly tournaments, then you must fish the Divisional, Top Six as a non-boater.
  • **Monthly tournaments will be fished as a team event. Five fish per boat and boater and non-boater will receive equal points for total weight and share winnings if applicable. If a tie occurs at year end, the tie breaker will be the overall weight for the year.

    A plaque will be given to the person whom is 1st in points at the end of the year. (Angler of the Year)

    **The club will give away a plaque for “Big Fish of the Year”  during the September meeting.

    $5.00 a month from tournament dues will go to help pay expenses to the Top Six Tournament

Tournament Rules:

Basic FLW rules will be adhered to by this Club, unless they conflict with Bartow County Bass Club rules.

Largemouth, smallmouth, spotted and redeye bass are the only fish allowed to be weighed in during tournaments.

The only bait allowed during tournaments is artificial baits. No trolling allowed, although using electric motor as a means of moving the boat for drift fishing is allowed.

**Fish will be measured with the mouth closed and normal way the tail touches (straight, tilted, or pinched together) to reach 12 inches minimum or lake size limit. A flat board (Tournament Director’s) will be used for measuring. The Tournament Director or Club V.P. will measure each person’s shortest fish.

In case of prevailing danger just before the starting time of a tournament, the Tournament Director and the Board members will have the authority to delay the start of the tournament. This also includes darkness. The decision to delay must be made at the launch site at least 15 minutes before launch time.

There is no reward for live fish, but there will be a 0.20 lb. penalty for dead fish weighed in.

Weighing in short fish (less than 12 inches or the lake size limit) will cost the club member that fish plus the largest fish he is bringing in to be weighed.


In the event someone is left without a partner and the one left has a boat, he may check out and fish alone.

All boats must be equipped with a kill switch.

No fishing allowed within 100 feet of an competitors boat.

A securely fastened coast guard approved life jacket must be worn anytime the combustible engine is operated.

The kill switch must be worn while the big motor is running.

**The Tournament Director or V.P. will check boats for kill switch. Boats without kill switches will be warned and must stay back at take off.

**At tournament end all boats must be inside buoys of designated launch/weigh-in site. Boaters late will be charged 1 lb. per minute for 5 minutes then will zero (0) after 5 minutes.

Members must bring their fish to the scales with their partners. Fish will be in plastic bags.

At the end of the weigh-in, the Tournament Director will announce winners.

No one may give, take, sell or buy fish to be weighed in other than what was legally caught in each boat.

All fishing must be done from the boat.

**Never leave a person on the bank. Must take three in a boat if necessary.

Weighing more than 5 fish will result in the weight of all over 5 and the largest fish being subtracted from the remaining fish.

**Club members will receive 50 points for fishing tournaments only if they are at the weigh in.

The club will abide by all Coast Guard, Corp of Engineers and Dept. of Natural Resources regulations.

No controlled substances shall be possessed or consumed during the tournament or weigh-in
